I notice that a lot of people are asking about changing their car maps to the current region where they live at the moment which happens to be different of the region where the car was originally sold. This may happen for a lot of reasons, but unfortunately Tesla doesn't provide any solution, which is crazy.The article discusses "medium definition" maps that would be in between standard definition maps and HD maps. The idea is to create maps that are more scalable like standard maps but still provide rich data similar to HD maps to be useful for autonomous driving. So, MD Maps could be the best of both worlds.

Thanks! This smells like more Tesla's fault than Google Maps' though. Here's the deal: there are two exits next to each other off of I95 in the Lexington, MA area: Route 2A and Route 2.
