Chris, its mechanical. If you can't put your temp sensor in your head leave it in the intake. Order the waterneck that I have listed in my picture and put your fan sensor there. Its going to look a little out of place, but will work. Like mentioned above your temp reading is higher at the head than the intake.This tells you that there are no wiring issues with engine coolant temperature (ECT) sensor. Replace the ECT sensor if in TEST 1 you had reading of -40° F reading or a reading of A 250° F/. If in TEST 1 you got a reading of ±10° F of ambient temperature reading, go to: TEST 3: Checking The Temperature With The Key On Engine Running.

Temp sensor should be on the drivers side head near #3 spark plug. Oil sender should be above the oil filter , with an 1/8 inch pipe plug. Some big blocks have the temp sensor in the intake near the thermostat. I don't recall any big blocks with the oil sensor behind the distributor!! Like.
