basically lightning and fire are both good but there are a few enemies in the game immune to fire and some resistant to lightning lightning and fire do decent damage and can carry you through ng but will screw you over on ng+, if you level up you dex to 40 an have a +15 normal uchi you will do the most damage possibleEvery weapon is viable. It's a matter of you being a viable user. Uchi is good but I'd recommend blacksteel Katana. It has a more versatile moveset, solid combos and better damage. Yes, as are most all katanas. Chaos Blade is just the infamous one, but katanas in general are hated because of how good they are.

Str-based weapons are generally heavier and slower, but there are exceptions.
