Not sure about other boss fights, but this one requires you to kill a Blood Alpha Wyvern and get the claw as one of the tributes. This really makes this boss fight hard to do, and all the videos I watched they just spawned in all the tribute items. Their damage output is on par with a rex, (actually higher), but they have less health than a rex. They are herbivores though, so they can eat sweet veggie cakes in a boss fight. The side benefit is that they are by far still the best overall gather dino in the game.
Rhino's are good for most bossfights but she's in a nest all the time which is hard to get to. (little elevated and the rhino's charge won't reach.)
